Let’s face it—we all have facets of our work that we simply feel like we have no idea what we are doing. We get by through trial and error, advice from mentors, or….Google. I have had a few individuals ask what they refer to as “trivial questions,” when really they are legitimate issues that, if you haven’t studied or taken coursework on business, you may not know. Thankfully, there are resources at this communities’ disposal to help get us through. And guess what... many of said entities are coming right here to your community on March 10 to help you with just that! Southern Charles Mix Dakota Rising is hosting its first fair entitled “Business Basics: A Resource Fair” that will cater to the businesses within our area. Entities will be split up to represent what the Southern Charles Mix Dakota Rising Leadership Team came up with what we are calling the “Seven Pillars of Business,” which include:
Growth & Development
State and local entities will be available from 11:30 am – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, March 10th at the Wagner Theatre on Main Street to answer any and all questions regarding business. Whether you have an idea for a business that you want to get off the ground, need assistance organizing your thoughts in preparation for growth, or need help in making sure you and your business are protected, any and all questions are welcome. If matters need to be discussed with a particular entity in a private setting, just say so and we will make it happen. If you aren’t sure where your knowledge needs a refresher course, we will have handouts with questions prompting who you may want to chat with if you aren’t sure of the answer.
Entities being represented include Governor’s Office of Economic Development, Department of Labor, Small Business Development Center, Small Business Association, local financial and insurance institutions [including Fort Randall Federal Credit Union, Andes State Bank, Commercial State Bank, First Dakota National Bank, Randall Lake Insurance, Frei Insurance, Bures & Kronaizl, and Juffer Inc.], Fort Randall Casino marketing executive, two local tax experts [Bures & Associates and Deb Cooney], Yankton Sioux Tribe Economic Development Authority, Wagner Area Growth, and Dakota Rising.
Not only will there be over eighteen entities there to chat with, we are also offering a free Facebook Business Basics workshop at 5:30 pm! This workshop will be for those that need help setting up and navigating a Facebook business page, as well as some important rules to follow to avoid infringements on Facebook policy. This workshop will be a perfect intro to the social media marketing workshop that Southern Charles Mix Dakota Rising will be putting on this spring/summer (stay tuned for more info!).
Come over your lunch hour (we will have lunch available for purchase!), on your afternoon break, or when you get off work—even if just to grab some coffee and network with some awesome people. We sincerely hope you can make it!
See you March 10th, 2015 between 11:30 am – 7:00 pm at the Wagner Theatre!
